What I love about October...
October is my favorite month of the year! It brings the essence of fall with the scent of fallen leaves and cool, dewy mornings.

October signals the start of garden cleanup and winter preparation. Trim your finished perennials and remove the remaining annuals. Prune the long stems of Hydrangeas that have turned a rich, deep pink and raspberry color, and store them upright in a dry location for use in Thanksgiving arrangements both indoors and outdoors.
October is a time to pull out your orange and brown clothes, as well as stored winter hats and gloves.
In the kitchen, I display my cookbook titled "A Harvest of Pumpkins and Squash." I continue to burn McIntosh apple-scented candles and use an apple-scented countertop cleaner (started in August). I love the seasonal scents of Meyer's Clean Day Apple Cider and Orange Clove. You can also celebrate the beginning of fall with dishtowels in seasonal hues. Enjoying the seasonal changes in Michigan, I switch my home decor from summer to fall in October. My chandelier shades, pillow covers, and entranceways feature orange, black, and white colors.
