About Our North Shore Inn Tea Recipe

French Onion Soup

My Aunt Sue ran a beautiful bed and breakfast inn right on the shores of Lake Michigan. I started making it for our church gatherings and everyone raved about the unique taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 quarts of strong black tea

  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • 1/2 cup lemon juice

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • Mint leaves on stems

Recipe Notes

  • Serves 10

  • Accompaniments: tea party sandwiches

  • Cooking supplies: Large 2-quart beverage container, 4 black tea bags, 2 16 oz mason jars

  • Leftover Ideas: Store extra tea in the ball jars and keep refrigerated

Instructions

  1. Add hot water to the mason jars and steep four tea bags in each jar for at least 2 hours or overnight.

  2. Pour tea into a 2 quart beverage contain and add the orange juice, lemon juice, sugar and mint and stir until combined

  3. Refrigerate tea until cold (about 2 hours), remove mint leaves, stir and serve over ice with a fresh sprig of mint
