Welcome to August 2025

Volume 1 | Issue 1 | August 2025

What I love about August...

It's the start of harvest time in Michigan! Time to visit your local farm markets for blackberries, blueberries, peaches, nectarines and apples. Be sure to have these available for the kids to grab and eat. I wash my fruit and put it in easy to get to, clean pull out containers in my refridgerator, along with cleaned carrots, mozzerella sticks and other great grab and go snacks for the kids. Football season is underway by mid-August. Check out my recipe for Buffalo Wings-a great addition to a tailgate party.

Go Apple Picking in August

August is also a time to deadhead, cut back or stake your perrenials. Late August in Michigan brings small hints of fall. The mornings are cooler and dew sparkles on the spider webs.

I begin pulling out my fall purses and sweaters for those occasional cooler days.

In the kitchen, I display my apple cookbook and pear plate. I burn McIntosh apple candles (Glade makes a wonderful Apple Cinnamon candle) and switch my countertop cleaner to an apple scent. I love the Meyer*s Clean Day Apple Cider and Orange Clove seasonal scents . You can also usher in the beginnings of fall with blueberry and blackberry dishtowels.
